happy mardi gras!
woo! it's that time of year again... beads, boobs and beer running rampant in the crescent city! ah the memories... :)
well, not so much of any of that for me anymore. i'm actually at cafe roma from open to close today since mai decided to give the whole kitchen staff the day off after her sister jessie made sure to tell all of our regular customers that we would be open today. >.< silly mai...
things in new orleans have been going well. i've seen a definite improvement in my teeth thanks to the braces. they're slowly getting all lined up and straightened. i feel bad complaining about the braces having only had them about 6 months but man i'll be glad when they're gone. eating it just so annoying. i'm constantly picking at my braces with my tongue trying to get things unstuck. i feel like i must look like i'm having a constant tongue spasm or something.
film-wise i've been really bad so far this year. all i've seen is "coraline" in 3d, which was really fun and used the 3d very well, and "slumdog millionaire", which was also very fun. i've even been bad on my netflix watching and haven't seen anything this year at all even though i've had 2 movies sitting at home for weeks now ("inside", a french horror/thriller film which i heard good things about and "3:10 to yuma", which i was interested in when i added it to my queue but have become less interested in the longer it sits unwatched at home).
in regards to my long untouched game project, i finally have forward progress to report on it. i sat down this past saturday and finally cracked open the book i bought on the 3d animation program that i'm going to use to make all the 3d models for my game projects. i've been avoiding this since, oh... last june or so and finally got so fed up with my laziness over it that i buckled down and got over that inertia hump. so hopefully over the next few weeks i may have more good progress to report on my game.
on the homefront, prince the wonderdog continues to be equal parts cute as can be and annoying as all get out. actually, that's not entirely fair. he has shown progress on the house training and his bladder control is noticeably better. so i've given up on the idea that he will never be house trained and have transitioned to the idea that it will take a few more months to get him trained. he still hasn't really grown very much though. i don't think he will ever be as big as his mom is. so i'm stuck with a dog that will forever be about 12 inches tall at most.
speaking of cafe roma, things continue to move ahead and the slow but steady rate in regards to our new restaurants. we now actually received the lease for two of the three deals we've been working on and they're being reviewed by our attorney. we have a meeting this week to meet with the property owners of the third location to see if we can come to a agreement about the final sticking points of the third location. hopefully we'll work through that as that's the location we could have opened up the quickest and we would hate to miss that chance. that mall is scheduled to be open at the end of this coming july, so it's getting down to the wire as to whether or not it will happen and if we could make that deadline.
can't think of anything else new going on so i'll wrap this up here. i hope all is well with everyone and that spring is in sight for you all and that the cold will be gone soon. (which is easy for me to say since it's going to be in the 70/s later this week).
take care! -jesse
