i'm a busy, busy beaver
hello all!
hope all is good for you this new spring 2009. the weather here in new orleans is great! the colder winter nights are gone and the heat/humidity of summer has not yet arrived. it could stay like this until november and i would be happy. sadly, i know that won't be the case.
i haven't seen any movies lately, sadly that hobby has been really falling by the way side. there's a lot of stuff out right now that i'm interested in though, like "knowing", "monsters vs aliens", "duplicity" and "taken", so if you've seen any of those, let me know how good it was.
since i haven't been seeing movies, i've been filling my time up with cafe roma business stuff. for a while there it looked like we might buy the company from franchisor, but now that is looking less likely. with the new restaurants opening up, we don't really have the resources (read cash) that it would take to do that. so we're just going to continue being a franchise for a while still until we build our savings back up a bit.
speaking of new restaurants, the store in nashville is coming along. the bar is mostly built, the kitchen equipment has been bought and it looks like we'll hit our first week of june opening date. we also finally got the lease for our third store in for review to our attorney. although it was the third deal we cut, it will actually open first. we're scheduled to get the keys to the empty shell sometime in may and have it open and running by august 31 in time for the fall school season. that's right around the corner basically and things are getting exciting around here.
the biggest news of the moment, however, is that mai decided that if we're going to own a chain of italian restaurants that we really need to have a better understanding of what italian food is like. so this thursday we head to italy for a whirlwind 6 day trip! two days each in rome, venice and florence. the only thing about the trip i'm not looking forward to is the 78 million pounds i'm going to gain from all the eating i'm sure we're going to do. otherwise, this will be my first trip to europe and i'm really looking forward to it.
on top of all of that, a few months back my aunt announced her upcoming 60th birthday and wanted us to celebrate with her in the u.s. virgin islands. that trip is the last week of april, meaning i'll actually get to use my passport twice this month! holy travelogues, batman!
in dog related news, prince has actually been showing signs of improvement. he's not the ninja-pee dog he used to be. he still isn't what i would call "house trained" but he at least shows strong signs of being on the road to it.
that's all from me for now. hope everything is going well for you all!
